• Optus network
• Covers 97% of Australians
• SIM-only, month-to-month plans
amaysim is a relative newcomer to the Australian mobile market, launching in 2010 with the promise to shake up the competition. Recognizing that leaps in mobile technology have been replaced with tiny steps, amaysim is targeting those customers who own their high-powered smartphones outright, and can’t justify taking on a long contract to get the latest device.
amaysim uses the budget airline model of simple prices with no unnecessary extras to bump up the cost. There are flat fees on calls and no flagfall charges, so it is easy to stay in control of your spend. This makes them the ideal choice for price-conscious consumers who already have a mobile phone and just want a plan to go with it.
Pros
• Simple pricing

History
amaysim launched in 2010 as a low-cost Virtual Mobile Network operator with simple pricing and a focus on good customer service. The team behind the new venture previously had success with a similar concept in Germany and brought to Australia their key philosophies: simplicity, local customer service, transparency and low costs.
amaysim launched with an As You Go plan and an Unlimited plan. The As You Go plan has three simple charges: 12 cents per minute for standard calls, 12 cents for a text message and 5 cents per MB of data. The Unlimited plan includes unlimited standard calls and texts plus 4GB of data for $39.90 a month. Additional data packs can be bought.
Marketplace
amaysim is a new provider and a private company so there are no publicly available figures on revenue or customer numbers.
Future plans and development
amaysim will continue to build its customer base in Australia with basic advertising and continued simplicity in its plan offerings.
