The Nokia E55 is a well-designed handset, which has plenty to offer both average and business users.
At first glance, the brushed steel look of the keys and the thin 9.9mm-thick combined metal and hardened plastic case is very stylish. The E55 also weighs only 95g, making it one of the smallest Nokia handsets around.
Typing on the E55 is easy, with the letters on the QWERTY keypad spread out across 14 keys and placed in pairs. Characters and formatting functions are then laid out across the remaining six keypad buttons. The standard E series key cluster is found above the compact QWERTY keys, and includes the directional pad, select button, soft key buttons, call controls, backspace button and three shortcut keys for messaging, calendar and home.
The Nokia E55 uses the Symbian S60 3rd Edition Feature Pack 2 as an operating system, which is flexible, reliable and easy to use. The handset includes all of the functions a business user could ever want or need, including messaging, email capabilities, support for Exchange Activesync and Lotus Notes and HTML rendering. Additionally, the E55 is armed with a 600MHz ARM 11 processor, making it very easy to switch between applications.
The E55 supports all manner of connectivity including Wi-Fi (802.11b/g), Bluetooth 2.0, GPS, FM radio, quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE and dual-band WCDMA with HSDPA support up to 10.2Mbps, as well as HSUPA support up to 2Mbps. The E55 also comes with a 2GB microSD card, stereo headset, microUSB cable, microUSB wall charger and a charger adapter, which is great if you still have older Nokia chargers lying around.
This handset comes with a 3.2 megapixel camera that is packed with features including dedicated zoom and image capture buttons. Music fans should also be happy with the E55. Nokia's Music Player application, a 3.5mm audio jack and a huge 1500 mAh battery make listening to music a pleasurable experience.
