Nokia has decided to keep the Nokia 2680 Slide simple, creating a phone that is both comfortable to hold whilst still being small enough to slip into your pocket.
The colour scheme is somewhat odd, with a half black, half silver front, a dark blue rear case and silver edging. However, if you're looking for an entry level phone simply for calls and messages, the Nokia 2680 Slide might be what you’re looking for.
Slide it open to reveal a glossy and slightly raised keypad. Although the keys are somewhat smaller than they could be, calling and typing long SMS messages can be can be done with ease. The rest of the keys will be familiar to Nokia users. The five-way navigational pad is usefully large, and it’s complemented by two selection keys, 'answer' and 'end call' buttons. The only thing really missing from the 2680 in terms of controls is external volume keys.
The Nokia 2680 Slide’s display isn’t going to change the world, but does the job well enough for an entry-level phone. As with all Nokia handsets, the 2680 is equipped with a well designed menu and easily operable user interface. There can be a little bit of lag sometimes, but not enough to ruin your day.
Function wise the Nokia 2680 is actually fairly packed. Bluetooth, a VGA camera, music and video players, a voice recorder and an FM radio are included in the package. While there is no option to increase your memory, these features are impressive additions for such a basic phone. There is also a range of PIM functions including as an alarm, calendar, calculator, timer, stopwatch and a to-do list.
