The Samsung S8300 UltraTouch is an impressive handset combining a brilliant touchscreen and a numeric keypad with a professional design and a towering list of features.
Aesthetically, the S8300 UltraTouch is business in the middle, party at the edges. The handset is made of sophisticated brushed metal in a charcoal grey, with edges coloured in either a fiery red or a cool blue. The keypad hidden underneath by the well made slider function is also coloured, reminiscent of the lining of an expensive dinner jacket. At 1.3cm in thickness, the S8300 UltraTouch is also one of the thinnest touchscreens around, even with the hidden keypad.
Using this Samsung model is done with the real keys or via the virtual keypad on the screen. Both options are easy and responsive. The Samsung S8300 UltraTouch also boasts one of the best displays available on the market. Called the AMOLED (Active Matrix Organic Light Emitting Diode) screen, the brilliant display is great in all light situations and when viewed from any angle. Colours are bright, lines are crisp, and after using this screen all others will really seem a bit dull and lifeless.
The perfect companion for this display is the S8300 UltraTouch’s 8-megapixel camera. The camera lens is hidden under the slider, so it is protected until you want to use it. There is also an LED flash tucked in there for shots in low light. The camera has four focus modes, white balance presets, anti-shake and blink detection technology as well as an impressive video mode that shoots at 30 frames per second.
The other features of the Samsung S8300 UltraTouch secure its position as a powerful touchscreen phone. Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, HSDPA and 3G ensure that you will always be connected. A decent media player is installed that supports a range of video and music files. Unfortunately though, there is no 3.5mm headphone jack. There is also a mini USB connection for synchronisation with your PC as well as charging, and a microSD card slot for boosting storage.
