The Samsung i8910 Omnia is an electrifyingly beautiful touchscreen smartphone with an 8 megapixel camera and the full range of connection and multimedia features.
Dressed in black with silvery trimmings, the i8910 Omnia is a slimline tablet with a depth of only 12.9mm. Almost all of the handset is taken up by a glorious 3.7 inch capacitive touchscreen. This screen is a high definition AMOLED (Active Matrix Organic Light Emitting Diode) display and it provides one of the best visual experiences on the mobile market. The colours are incredibly bright, the lines crisp and clear, and interacting with the device is a joy. Lags when opening applications or scrolling through menus are completely absent, and you rarely have to tap the screen more than once to start something.
This is due in part to the capacitive nature of the screen, which responds to the heat from your fingers and is generally a more responsive form of touchscreen technology. It is also due to the very powerful Symbian S60 5th Edition operating system that Samsung have crammed into the i8910 Omnia.
Also aiding the excellent usability of the i8910 Omnia is Samsung TouchWiz user interface. Brightly coloured and featuring plenty of widgets, the TouchWiz allows you to use and design useful shortcuts on the home page for greater access to your favourite functions. With the i8910 Omnia there are three ways to input your information; a landscape QWERTY keyboard, a regular alphanumeric keypad or handwriting recognition. Each work quite well, although the handwriting recognition does take a while to get used to you.
The i8910 Omnia has a giant 8 megapixel camera on board that takes great quality photos. There is an LED flash to help in low light, autofocus, panoramic options as well as face detection. There is actually smile and blink detection too, so you are ensured of a good shot. Once you have captured the moment you can 'geotag' it thanks to the A-GPS connection. The camera can also be used to take very high resolution video footage (30 frames per second). This handset is sometimes called the Samsung HD i8910 Omnia, and with this video capacity as well as the high quality screen, it is easy to see why.
Connectivity wise, the whole gang is here in the i8910 Omnia. Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and 3G HSDPA as well as A-GPS and a mini USB port for synching to your computer. There is also a microSD card slot for boosting your storage so you can make even more of the Samsung i8910 Omnia.
