The Nokia E71 may look more like a BlackBerry than an iPhone with its full QWERTY keypad, but the E71 is challenging the iPhone in many ways. Unlike many other mobiles, the Nokia E71 does not try to imitate the iPhone - the Nokia E71 has opened a gateway for its own imitations.
The Nokia E71’s screen might be smaller than the oversized touchscreen of the iPhone, but the display is still large enough to watch YouTube clips and surf the net. The Nokia E71 will also slide into your pocket a little easier, as it’s only 10 mm deep (verses the iPhone’s 12mm).
The Nokia E71 comes with two home screens: one for work (Excel and Powerpoint) and one for play (essentially a media centre, comprising of games, audio and video). You will be able to seamlessly switch between these two areas of your life.
The Nokia E71 beats the iPhone in terms of battery life and a more comfortable full QWERTY keypad (although it does take some getting used to). It also has an FM radio and better call quality. However, predictably the iPhone beats the Nokia E71 in terms of browsing experience, with its large vivid touchscreen and tactile experience. The iPhone also has a larger selection of quality applications and games that are available to download, and this is what is going to tempt a lot of potential customers.
