Optus mobile phone customers will soon be able to check their Facebook, Myspace and Twitter accounts via the new Social View option in Optus Zoo.
Optus has teamed up with European software company Myriad to please social networkers on the Optus Network, so they can soon be updating their status and checking out the latest news feeds on their web browser and smartphones.
Myriad are dipping their toe into the social scene for the first time since it took over Xumii, formally an Australian-based company well known for its social networking connections using 'cloud' technology.
‘Social networking services are a sure-fire way for Optus to increase the appeal and popularity of Optus Zoo,’ commented Jennifer Zanich, Myriad’s general manager for Xumii services.
‘Viewing friends’ updates and changing status are the most common actions on social networks. Enabling these features on a single screen creates a quick and easy way for mobile users to stay in touch throughout the day, which will increase visits to Optus Zoo and ultimately drive the adoption of other services on the portal.’
According to Optus Zoo, customers can access and integrate information on multiple social networks to their mobile phone via Social View. Optus will also send mobile phone customers free social text messages, but once connected to their networks customers are then charged for data services relevant to their Optus plan.
Optus customers can access Social View by selecting the ‘Activate’ button, and then sync all of their contact information with the new program. If you are interested in socialising via the new Optus Social View function, check out our Optus mobile phone plans with data packages.
