The Nokia 5030 is a funky looking handset that is the first to provide an internal FM radio antenna.
That's right, an internal FM radio antenna. Inside this sharp looking handset, with coloured trimming and a hand pleasing shape is the ability to listen to the radio without having to plug in the bundled headphones to get reception. The 5030 is also known as the Nokia 5030 XpressRadio, and this is why.
This awesome addition is sure to be a winner with many people who rely on the radio for their news and entertainment. You can access and control the radio using the dedicated buttons on the side. A quality loudspeaker is also a natural inclusion, so you can listen to the radio clearly and also make good speakerphone calls. The loudspeaker is located at the back of the handset and is coloured either red or graphite, depending on the handset you have chosen; a great aesthetic touch.
Now we've got that excitement over the ability to listen to the radio without using the Nokia headset out of the way, let's look at the rest of the phone. As with other Nokias, the 5030 is stocked with a good quality and reliable user interface that is easy and intuitive to use. Grid style menus are a viewing pleasure on the 1.8 inch TFT display. Colours are bright and the viewing is sharp in almost all light conditions. The keypad design and five way navigation pad is what you've come to know and love from Nokia-familiar and simple. Separating the keys with little crosses of the phone colour is a nice touch.
Other features of the Nokia 5030, apart from the internal FM radio antenna that is, are slim but enough to make this handset very usable. SMS and MMS with T9 predictive text are present, as well as the ability to use MP3, polyphonic and video ring tones. There are also some included games and a good set of PIM functions.
