The Nokia 6760 is a sliding smartphone with a unique design and a superior QWERTY keypad.
It’s not often that a smartphone comes with coloured highlights, but then again the Nokia 6760 is no ordinary handset. Boasting a matte black body and rubber edges, the 6760 comes with red, white or yellow highlights. The QWERTY keyboard is surrounded by a chrome border, which is understandable as it is huge! The raised rubber keypad is built to be used with two hands and features excellently sized and positioned keys, especially the spacebar and shift.
The design of this Nokia 6760 is certainly unique, and while the build quality is not the best on the market it is fun to use and maneuver. If you slide the phone open (using the thoughtfully designed rubber strip on the bottom) the display automatically rotates to landscape. The front controls are well located for both open and closed modes and the five-way navigational pad offers satisfactory tactility. The strangest thing about the 6760’s design is the fact that you cannot make a call without opening the slider.
Using the 6760 is made easy with Nokia’s reliable Symbian operating system. Shortcuts to webpages including Facebook and MySpace can be placed on the homepage, and 3G capability means that online browsing is fast and furious. The Nokia 6760 also has a built-in GPS receiver and Google Maps can be quickly downloaded for maximum positioning assistance.
Rounding out the features list is the 6760’s multimedia functions. This Nokia handset sports a 3.2 megapixel camera, although it does not come with a flash. There is also a multimedia player and an FM radio, although the headphone jack is 2.5mm rather than the regular 3.5mm.
