The Nokia N9 is Nokia’s first real dip into the touchscreen smartphone market. It runs the new MeeGo operating system – a platform designed to ease confusion and ensure operating this smartphone is clear-cut and without the unnecessary extras.
In terms of look and feel, Nokia has done what they do best: the Nokia N9 has a smooth, smart and simple exterior. The phone comes in black, cyan or magenta and the outer surface is supposedly mark-free because the colours are stained all the way through. The 3.9 inch Super AMOLED display features the renowned Gorilla Glass, the same stuff used on the iPhone 4. The polycarbonate unibody may feel plasticy to some, but it feels comfortable and incorporates the front Gorilla glass impeccably. All buttons on this smartphone are virtual, apart from the volume and lock control on the side of the handset.
While the Nokia N9’s 1GHz operating system doesn’t offer the same speediness as other smartphones on the market, it will be more than sufficient for most users. The battery life is impressive, especially when you consider the Nokia N9’s delectably vivid display.
The Nokia N9 features a 3.9 inch AMOLED screen and a huge 64GB of internal memory. Photographers will be impressed by the 8-megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss Optics, and HD 720p video recording. The phone features an edge-to-edge touchscreen with onscreen buttons to look around.
The Nokia N9 gives you access to all your favourite Apps from the Ovi Store, along with free maps and navigation and of course uses real-time email and real-time social networking.
The Nokia N9 is available now through Telstra (1300 850 518), Vodafone (1300 850 518) or Dodo (1300 136 793).
