The Samsung M610 is a beautiful yet basic slider phone, and while it is not going to set the world on fire with its features, it will look good while getting the job done.
Smooth rounded corners, polished edges and rounded corners give the M610 a very stylish look. The finish is a sturdy plastic. The top half of the slider does wiggle slightly, but this doesn’t detract from the look of this Samsung model.
Sliding the handset open reveals intuitive controls, and a well thought-out keypad. The buttons in particular provide excellent tactile feedback. Samsung achieve this by slightly raising the keys in order to provide extra finger support. The keys also give a satisfying little click sound when you press them. The rest of the controls on the M610 are also well designed, employing a five-way navigational pad, ‘Answer’ and ‘End’ call buttons, two selection keys and a devoted ‘Clear’ key.
While the controls on the Samsung M610 are great, the display, it has to be said, is pretty average. It is hard to view the screen at various angles and images come up a bit fuzzy. However, considering the intended usage type for this particular Samsung handset, the screen is manageable.
Multimedia features on the M610 include an MP3 player, FM radio and a VGA camera that doubles as a video recorder. While Samsung do not provide a standard 3.5mm headphone jack on this handset, it is A2DP Bluetooth enabled, so you can wirelessly stream your music to an appropriate set of headphones or speakers. There is also a microSD card slot present in the M610, a small detail that greatly adds to its usability.
Additional features include an alarm, a calendar, notes, world clock, timer, stopwatch, converter and a voice recorder. The Samsung M610 is a neat little package that will serve you well.
