The Sony Ericsson W902 heralds a new era for this telecommunication giant. The Walkman series of phones have always drawn attention for their music features, but with the W902, new camera capabilities have stepped out of the shadows.
Looking a little like a new generation iPod Nano with its slim design and matt, curved casing, the Sony Ericsson W902 look will be pleasing to almost everyone. The back of the handset is coated with rubber to minimise fingerprint production and help with grip. The keypad is small but easy to use, and the navigation and selection keys make up three neat circles in the centre of the handset. Dedicated camera and music keys line one edge. The music keys are transparent, while the camera shutter and zoom buttons are coloured orange, so there is no confusion. There are also additional music controllers on the base of the 2.2 inch LCD display.
As with all Walkman branded phones, the W902 stocks a plethora of music features and functions. You can control the music by shaking the handset thanks to the Gesture controls, as well as via the dedicated keys. You can sort your music via album, artist or even your mood using the SenseMe feature. As always the sound quality is excellent, via the built-in speakers, the propriety headphones or your own hadphones using the 3.5mm headphone adapter.
The real addition however is the W902's 5 megapixel camera. This shooter has autofocus, an LED flash and a photo flash accelerometer. It also features the BestPic function, a Sony Ericcson exclusive that takes nine pictures in a row when you half press the shutter button, nine when you press the button completely, and another nine when you release. You can then pick the best one, and the rest are deleted.
Other features include a Memory Stick Micro card slot for boosting storage, HSDPA connectivity, email functionality and an FM radio.
The Sony Ericsson W902 offers both mobile entertainment and introduces a quality phone camera. camera-phone market.
