The new BlackBerry Pearl Flip 8220 is a decent flip phone with a great design. The Pearl Flip 8220 has a classy, glossy black casing with a silver trim, and the matte black finish inside enhances this. BlackBerry have created an unusual angled design for the Pearl Flip 8220, which moves the microphone closer to your mouth for better quality sound.
One of the Pearl's main highlights is a fantastic 1.6-inch diagonal screen, which has a 65,536 colour output and 128x160-pixel resolution for brilliant colour and images. It features a really cool analogue clock beneath the battery indicator and coverage sign. When you receive emails and messages you can view the sender and the opening lines without opening the phone, which is really handy if you are in a rush. You can also access all your info while the phone is closed, just by using your volume buttons.
There is no QWERTY keypad, but the buttons are big and the SureType system is reliable and efficient. The interface and menu are user-friendly and as expected the BlackBerry Pearl is a fantastic email device that includes WiFi. Unfortunately, the absence of 3G makes surfing the net a little tedious.
The Blackberry Pearl media player allows you to view videos, photos and listen to music. BlackBerry has also included a 2-megapixel camera with a flash, a 3.5mm audio jack and some bonus headphones! Finally, there is also plenty of storage for your pics and songs with the Pearl's 12MB internal memory and external 16GB microSD card slot.
Overall, a stylish finish and unique design makes the BlackBerry Pearl Flip 8220 much like a premium corporate phone.
