Dodo is offering customers who sign up to the $49.90 social cap plus plan for 24-months a Sony PS3 and a Vivo 32” LCD TV. The products are being offered instead of a mobile handset which is normally included in phone plans, presumably intended for customers who are satisfied with their current mobile phone.
The Sony Playstation 3 is Sony’s newest home video game console offering “games, movies, internet access, online chat, new events, services and experiences.” The PS3 allows users to connect to the PlayStation Network, which introduces gamers to an integrated online gaming service where players can interact with others and surf the web for free.
The Vivo 32” (81cm) LCD TV offers high definition compatibility, a remote control and excellent picture quality.
The products are available for delivery in Melbourne, Adelaide, Sydney and Brisbane for a fee of $39.
The social cap plus plan, which has a minimum cost of $1197.60 over 24 months, provides users with $500 worth of credit each month to use toward calls, text and data, along with $1000 of credit for Dodo-to-Dodo calls. The cap credit can be used toward the standard mobile phone services such as MMS, GPRS, video calls, voicemail and international SMS.
The 90 cent per minute standard call rate is fairly typical compared to other phone carriers and post-paid plans. There is a flagfall of 35 cents, and SMS’s are 28 cents each. Customers will also have unlimited access to Facebook, Twitter, MySpace, Ebay, LinkedIn and foursquare in Australia.
