Optus claims to be "changing the face of prepaid" with unlimited calls and internet browsing on its new Dollar Days mobile plan offer.
And it looks that way. While prepaid plans typically involve a complex list of inclusions, exclusions, bonuses and added costs, Optus has tried to boil it down into something a little simpler. And as always with prepaid, you won’t have to worry about any unexpected bills – as soon as your credit runs out, there are no extra charges!
The plans are available to new and existing customers, and as with all prepaid plans, customers have the choice to BYO mobile or purchase a new one outright. Optus offers a range of prepaid mobiles, including the Nokia 6760, Nokia 7230, Nokia E63 and the LG KP500.
The recharge values remain the same as other Optus prepaid plans, along with their nominated expiry dates. If you have any unused credit, and you recharge before it expires, your unused credit will roll over.
$10 14 days expiry
$15 14 days expiry
$20 14 days expiry
$30 30 days expiry
$40 30 days expiry
$50 30 days expiry
$70 60 days expiry
$100 60 days expiry
So there are three offer levels, $1, $2 and $3, with different inclusions for each. Optus will ask you to nominate the level you’d like to begin with, and then you’ll need to purchase a recharge voucher to access that plan.
You will only be charged the price you nominate ($1, $2 or $3) if you actually use your phone that day (i.e to make a call, text or access the web). Customers will also be able to change the level of their nominated tier free of charge to suit their mobile usage (a maximum change of once every thirty days).
If a you use one of the services which is not included in your tier level, you will automatically be moved up to the higher level for that day, and you will receive a text message to confirm this. Your plan level will revert back to what you originally nominated as of 12am the next day. For example, if you are on the $1 plan and you use your mobile to check an email, you will automatically be debited $1 from your account. This will give you unlimited data for the rest of the day and the plan will revert back to the $1 level as of 12am the next day (don’t forget that wherever you are in Australia, times are AEST, which is the time in Sydney NSW).
