The HTC Snap is an understated smartphone that offers great controls and a neat suite of features.

Unlike other smartphones, the HTC Snap is not glossy or shiny. Instead, HTC have given the handset a matte finish and a sort of rubbery feel that is stylish in a subtle, effortless way. This finish also means that fingerprints are not a problem. The other main aesthetic feature of this smartphone is just how thin it is. The Snap is only 12mm thick, which is amazing considering it includes a full QWERTY keyboard and a 2 megapixel camera.

The keyboard of the HTC Snap has to be used to be believed. The tactility is outstanding, and the keys are raised and excellently spaced. It is so easy to type texts and emails, you will wonder how someone with another phone manages to do it. Other controls, including two selection buttons, home and back shortcuts and call keys are also well located and easy to use. Additionally, there is a small trackball which allows you to scroll through menus. This control can be set to three different sensitivity settings.

Running the HTC Snap is taken care of by the Windows Mobile 6.1 operating system, which means that the Office Mobile suite of programs is included, as well as Windows Media Player and a host of PIM functions. The user interface features a unique HTC Home Screen setup, allowing you to access favourite functions without having to repeatedly enter the Start menu. There is also a special feature call the HTC Inner Circle. Pressing the Inner Circle button gives you emails for up to 10 of your favourite contacts, so you can keep in touch with the people who are most important to you. The result of all this is that the HTC Snap is fast and
comfortable to use, both for business purposes and for fun.

Connectivity functions are excellent, as to be expected in a smartphone these days. The HTC Snap is 7.2Mbps HSDPA capable and has Wi-Fi, GPS and Bluetooth 2.0 with A2DP built in. Other features rounding out the Snap include a 2 megapixel camera that can also be used as a video recorder, and a microSD memory card slot to increase storage.
