During March, Samsung, Motorola and Nokia were busy unveiling brand new mobile phones which will reach Australia later this year.

On March 24th, Samsung unveiled its new Galaxy S Smartphone to be released across Europe, Asia, Latin America, Australia and the US during 2010.

The new Samsung Galaxy S smartphone has a 4-inch AMOLED screen to display brilliant, HD images and movies – perfect for cinema buffs! Samsung has also built in the same mobile digital natural image engine (MDNIe)found in Samsung LCD and LED TVs, to show off crystal clear photos, videos, and e-books.

The Galaxy S is also ideal for keen social networkers with its multitude of web applications and features. The 1GHz mobile processor that links the Samsung phone up to the latest Android system provides access to Google applications, Facebook, Twitter and email.

The Samsung Galaxy S’s other interesting features include a handy “Smart Life” function which supplies information according to your personal preferences. With its state of the art DLNA (Digital Living Network Alliance) technology, the Galaxy S phone also doubles as a radio, music player, photo frame, clock and organiser.

On March 22, Motorola unveiled the unusual Rugged i1 Push-to-Talk Phone. Outdoor enthusiasts will love the Motorola i1’s robust frame that can survive some serious knocks and a bit of rain.

This is a Motorola iDEN device which runs on the Android operating system and it is much like a smartphone. Accordingly, it has a large 3.1 inch screen, Wi-Fi, an Opera Mini 5 web browser and many other great apps. Features include a 5-megapixel camera with flash and geotagging, a virtual keyboard, a microSD card and a “sync” function to organise personal info and Microsoft products.

In the first week of March, Nokia announced the arrival of the Nuron 5230 and the brand new C-Series of mobile phones. Both models differ slightly depending on what you are looking for in a mobile phone. For example, the Nokia Nuron features a 3.2 inch touchscreen but only a 2-megapixel camera, whereas the Nokia C5 sports a 3.2-megapixel camera and a smaller 2.2 inch screen. Both phones come with media players and an FM radio, but the Nokia C5 comes with a larger memory and a more powerful battery.

The phones differ greatly in their specialised applications that perhaps attract slightly different customers. Firstly, the Nokia Nuron 5230 has an innovative navigation feature called Ovi Maps which provides detailed directions to navigate your way around town.

On the other hand, the Nokia C5, the first phone in a brand new series of Nokia mobile phones, is a fantastic social networking device. Although both phones provide instant access to Facebook, the C5’s Ovi Mail especially facilitates MySpace, messaging and email services.

Nokia, Motorola and Samsung have certainly given us a taste of things to come in 2010. Check out Compare Mobile news and reviews to discover or compare all the new mobile phones arriving in Australia later this year.
