Samsung has filed a preliminary injunction requesting the courts to put a halt to the iPhone 4S sales in Australia, as well as in Japan, France and Italy. Samsung has also appealed to the Australia court’s decision to grant a preliminary injunction over the Galaxy Tab 10.1.
According to the Samsung Electronics Official Global Blog, the patent claims in Australia include:
1) Method and apparatus for transmitting/receiving packet data using pre-defined length indicator in a mobile communication system (WCDMA)
2) Method and apparatus for data transmission in a mobile telecommunication system supporting enhanced uplink service (HSPA)
3) Method and apparatus for transmitting and receiving data with high reliability in a mobile communication system supporting packet data transmission (HSPA)
Given these alleged violations, Samsung has requested to put a ban on all iPhone 4S sales within the country. iPhone 4S sales began just two days ago in Australia.
