This week on Compare Mobile Plans we're taking a look at what some have called the future of education – a learning system resting at the light taps of your fingers over a perfectly responsive touchscreen. Education may not be currently or even ever entirely digital, but an electronic education is available right now, and there are some great apps out there to take advantage of.
Originally 14.99 but now offered for free, the Hello-Hello English program is a great way to learn or improve your English skills. It offers English lessons based on real conversational language rather than out of date textbook dialogue, with vocabulary flashcards, conversational lessons, and lots of fun and bright graphics to spice up your learning process. Once downloaded, all the content is stored on the app so you won't need access to the internet to learn, and it won't eat up all your data.
The Hello-Hello language app is also available for free with a beginners French set of lessons, and at various prices for other languages and a children's approach line.
Another great free app is Exploratorium's Color Uncovered. This interactive book is especially impressive on a tablet device, but will look impressive on your iPhone, too, with its fascinating illusions, articles, videos, and fun activities for both adults and children.
Have fun while you're learning with both these devices, available in the Apple App Store.
If you want to get in on the smartphone app action, have a look at some of the plans available for some of Australia's favourite smartphones: the Apple iPhone 4S 64GB, the Apple iPhone 3GS 8GB, or, to try something different, the brand new HTC Velocity 4G.
