BlackBerry has revamped the Storm! The new BlackBerry Storm 2 9500 may look like the old Storm 9500 because of its similar dimensions (62 x 14 x 112 mm), but it is a major improvement as far as BlackBerry smartphones go.
The Storm 2 9500 has a slick, black shell bordered by tinted chrome running around the edges. The 3.2-inch screen is big with a decent resolution of 320 x 480 pixels, and it yields vibrant colour and images. The main highlight of the BlackBerry Storm 2 9500 is the SurePress touchscreen with its vibrating tactile feedback and click-click-clicking sound as you tap your way through an SMS.
The SurePress system allows fast typing via multi-touch input, a decent QWERTY keypad in portrait mode and a good auto-correct feature. At first the QWERTY keypad may seem cramped, but you'll get used to it. The screen can also be a little inaccurate when you tap it to select an icon, but overall it’s really much better than the former Storm model.
The Blackberry Storm runs on the BlackBerry OS and it includes Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, 3G, HSDPA, USB and GPS for web surfing and email. The interface is well designed, but it requires a fair amount of clicking to access applications and information.
Music buffs can sync the BlackBerry Storm 2 9500 with iTunes with the aid of BlackBerry Desktop Software for Mac and groove to their favourite tunes thanks to a 3.5mm audio jack. Photographers can also enjoy the Storm 2 9500's 3.2-megapixel camera with flash, and store all their photos with the 2000MB internal memory and 6GB external microSD card.
The BlackBerry Storm 2 9500 outshines its predecessor and will certainly impress BlackBerry fans!
