Australians will soon be able to charge all of their mobile phones at once with the US Powermat. The Powermat offers superfast recharging for up to four devices with its inductive energy transferral system.
The Powermat serves a niche market by supporting only the iPhone 3G and 3GS, the BlackBerry Bold 9000 and the Nintendo DS Lite and DSi, which attach to the grip cover. A multi-purpose receiver in conjunction with multiple plug tips makes Powermat compatible with other mobile phones and electronic devices.
The Powermat will be pricey. Customers can purchase a bundle pack (three-port charging board and one wireless receiver) from major electronic stores like JB Hi-Fi for approximately AU$199.95, but simultaneous charging with other devices will cost another $49 per wireless receiver.
On a positive note, the Powermat’s best features include automatic standby mode once a mobile phone is charged, as well as a 5 star energy rating so you can save on your electricity bill!
