The Nokia 6300 a slimline candy bar phone, providing excellent usability with a steel plated finish.
Less is more seems to be the motto when it comes to the design of this Nokia handset. The 6300 is simple and yet very stylish, coming in three colours and defined by a steel keypad and edgings. The handset is very slim, at only 12mm thick, and weighs only 91 grams which is impressive considering what it is made of. Everything that is silver is made of steel, and everything else is a heavy duty gloss plastic. The result of this is a very sturdy, reliable phone.
The keypad and controls of the 6300 are well sized and good to use. The keypad is set apart from the rest of the handset as it is set in the steel section, and it provides great tactility for calling and messaging. The slim nature of the mobile means that there are not many side controls, but there is a navigation pad, as well as transparent answer and end call buttons as well as selection keys.
If you miss a call or receive a text message, there are LEDs on either side of the handset hat will blink in an urgent blue to let you know. For some people this is great, but if it is not your cup of tea then you can turn it off from the settings menu.
Feature wise, the Nokia 6300 packs a pretty powerful punch for such a small phone. There is a 2 megapixal camera, an external speaker for handsfree calls, an MP3 player, an FM radio, email and PC synchronisation and Bluetooth. There is also a miniUSB port, meaning that you can connect this phone to a computer easily and a microSD card slot that is very well hidden behind the steel back plate. The backplate incidentally can be engraved to say or show whatever you like, which means you can make the Nokia 6300 truly your own.
