The Sony Ericsson W380i is a classy flip phone featuring a wealth of music functions and some cool little extras.
Looking at this Sony Ericsson handset you can instantly tell that this phone takes music very seriously. The front of the W380i has a large speaker as well as three touch-sensitive music controls, which sort of look like trendy Braille. The phone itself is very nice to look at and comes in black or purple on the outside with silver trimmings and a silver keypad. It also feels well built, something that is not always the case with flip phones.
Sony Ericsson have cleverly hidden an external display on the front of the W380i that you cannot see until you activate it. This small display, which gives you caller information as well as time and battery indicators is a really cool addition to the handset and adds to its modern style.
Another very cool feature is the ability to use gesture control. Once activated, you can mute the W380i or snooze an alarm just by swiping your hand across the camera. This is ideal for people who use their mobile phone as a morning alarm clock.
As the Sony Ericsson W380i is part of the Walkman series, all of your audio needs are taken care of with grace and simplicity. The external music controls on the front light up when you are using them, and they can be locked using a little sliding key so you don't accidentally knock them and change your track. TrackID is once again present in the W380i, allowing you to figure out what song you are listening to just by recording a few seconds of it and then sending it to a database.
The Sony Ericsson Walkman software is easy to use and can be tailored to suit your tastes; you can adjust the audio setting and with the aid of a 3.5mm headphone adapter you can use your own headphones. The W380i also has a Memory Stick Micro (M2) slot enabling you to increase your storage and it comes with A2DP Bluetooth so you can listen to all those extra tunes on a pair of wireless Bluetooth headphones.
Other features include easy PC synchronisation, a 1.3 megapixel camera, a stack of PIM features and an inbuilt web browser.
