The HTC Touch Diamond is a stunning smartphone with a swag of features and enough panache to give the iPhone a run for its money.
First, we must comment on the superb design of this touchscreen handset. The HTC Touch Diamond is compact and light, belying its powerful capabilities, and comes in a glossy black finish. The distinguishing 3D diamond pattern on the back of the mobile is beautiful and unique, and makes the Touch Diamond fun to hold. There is a stylus included so you can makes the most of the excellent 2.8 inch display, and additional controls include a touch sensitive scroll wheel and dedicated home, call and back keys.
The HTC Touch Diamond uses the TouchFLO 3D user interface, and like the handset itself, the result is divine. The layout is well thought out and fun as well. You can access many of your favourite functions like the calendar or messaging with a single swipe of the finger, and the rest of the Touch Diamond options are set out in a row of icons at the bottom of the screen.
Many of the applications make the most of the high quality display and use animation and other visually pleasing effects. The weather application is great, as is the ability to scroll quickly through your emails and music files. Some of the trickier tasks will require the stylus, and the responsiveness of the Touch Diamond is not as lightning fast as other mobiles, with some delays and lags. This could be because the Touch Diamond tries to give you as much as it possibly can.
Browsing the web on the HTC Touch Diamond is quick and easy thanks to HSDPA 7.2Mbps connectivity and the included quality Opera Mobile browser. The Touch Diamond also has Wi-Fi connectivity as well as A2DP Bluetooth and A-GPS. There is a whopping 4GB of internal memory however HTC have strangely neglected to include a micro memory card slot, making it impossible to increase storage. Other features include a surprisingly handy built-in accelerometer for rotating your webpages and a 3.2 megapixel camera.
