Sitting at the very high end of Samsung's range of handsets, the i8000 Omnia II is a gorgeous machine with a wealth of features and a dazzling AMOLED display.

The Omnia II is shiny and chic, with a smooth black casing that is not dissimilar to an iPhone. The navigational pad on the front of the handset is a novel hexagon shape, surrounded by silver edging. This button is not only practical but looks very modern and sets the Omnia II apart from other smartphones.

The other element of this Samsung model that sets it apart is its incredible display. The Omnia II screen is a huge 3.7 inches and offers a AMOLED WVGA display. If the acronyms are important to you then AMOLED means active matrix organic LED and WVGA means a resolution of 480 x 800 pixels. What it all really means is amazing picture quality. The display is clear and crisp, with great viewing in almost all light and a magical range of colours.

The operating system of the Omnia II means you can make the most of this awesome display. Samsung have employed the Windows Mobile 6.5 system and have packed the Omnia II with 800MHz CPU. The result of this is super fast browsing and processing. HSDPA and HSUPA as well as Wi-Fi ensure that you will have the best connection speed possible, and in built GPS means that you will never be lost!

Other features include the Windows Mobile Office Suite, DivX and a microSD card slot, although the Omnia II comes with up to 16GB of inbuilt memory. Samsung have also given the i8000 a 5 megapixel camera with face and smile detection, autofocus and an auto panorama function. Geotagging is also present, meaning that you can store information on exactly when and where your pictures were taken.
